This is an older post, but I just finished your Elliot biography. Excellent!! I could hardly put it down. I have loved EE most of my life. We named our firstborn, our daughter Corrie Elisabeth, after my two spiritual heroes. I met EE briefly a couple of times, exchanged a couple letters, and have a picture of Elisabeth holding Corrie when she just a few months old. (Now Corrie is 29!).
Your book was just so well done. I loved how you didn’t just “report” a chronological account of her life, but actually observed, analyzed, theorized, questioned, and thoughtfully delved into the complexities that make up any life. I was in tears at the very end and felt once again so thankful for Elisabeth’s life.
Lucy, admittedly I’m not too familiar with Elliott’s work. So this is a refreshing find. I can feel your enthusiasm for archival research in your writing. And that puts a smile on my face. I appreciate you sharing this.
Thanks for sharing the video. It’s fascinating to think about the amount of work that went into writing about such a well-documented life. Made me want to reread the bio…🤓
(Also, I love that prayer too. The request to shield the joyous strikes me as especially profound and recognizes what a fragile and ephemeral gift earthly joy is.)

Thank you for sharing your EE story! What a cool picture to have! And thank you for your kind words about the bio-- I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
